Soccer Ball Smash
Attackers Defenders Neutral Goalkeeper Pass Run Dribble Shot
Soccer Ball Smash turns passing accuracy into a game your youngest players will beg to repeat. This soccer passing drill for U6–U10 gives every player a target, a ball, and a reason to strike cleanly. Because the target sits still, beginners can concentrate on technique without pressure from a defender.

Setup
- Mark out a large grid, roughly 40×50 yards.
- Split the group into pairs and give every player a ball.
- Partners stand close together inside the grid, with plenty of space between pairs.
How It Works
- Player 1 passes their ball out into open space and lets it come to a stop.
- Player 2 then passes their own ball, trying to hit Player 1's stationary ball.
- If Player 2 misses, Player 1 aims at Player 2's ball from wherever the balls now sit.
- Every hit is worth one point. First player to 5 points wins the match.
Coaching Points
- Check that players strike with the correct surface of the foot.
- Look for the right weight on each pass - firm enough to reach, controlled enough to stay accurate.
- Watch the plant foot: it should point straight at the target.
Variations
- Rotate partners after each match and play again.
- Restrict passes to one surface at a time: inside of the foot, outside, then laces.
- Have the leading player pass their ball farther away to raise the difficulty.
