Jam-Packed Soccer Dribbling Drill
Attackers Defenders Neutral Goalkeeper Pass Run Dribble Shot
The Jam-Packed Soccer Dribbling Drill teaches young players to keep control of the ball when the field gets crowded. Everyone dribbles around a circle and reacts to shouted commands, with the 'CROSS' call sending the whole group through the middle at once. It is an ideal dribbling warm-up for U6-U12 players learning to lift their heads in traffic.

Setup
- Build a circle of disc cones roughly 20 yards in circumference.
- Give every player a ball.
- Line the players up around the outside of the circle.
How It Works
- Players start dribbling around the outside of the circle, all in the same direction.
- Explain the command words, then call them out during the drill.
- JOG: dribble at a comfortable, controlled pace.
- FULL SPEED: dribble as fast as possible while keeping control.
- CUT: chop the ball and dribble the opposite way around the circle.
- CROSS: everyone cuts straight across the middle of the circle, avoiding the other players and their balls.
Coaching Points
- Heads up, especially on CROSS - every player enters the middle at the same time.
- Keep the ball on a short leash whenever traffic gets thick.
- Arms out for balance and gentle shielding.
- Use both feet and every surface of the foot.
- Keep it playful - this drill should be loud, busy, and fun.
Variations
- Invent extra commands, such as a stop, a turn, or a specific move.
- Reverse the meaning of commands (JOG means sprint) to test listening skills.
- Shrink the circle to force tighter control.
