When practice moves inside, this indoor soccer dribbling and passing drill turns the walls into an extra teammate. It suits U8 to U14 groups and works perfectly as a warm-up: players dribble across the court, ping a pass off the wall, control the rebound, and dribble home. Small groups of three keep the line short, so every player is moving within seconds.

Setup

  • Split the team into groups of three with one ball per group.
  • Place a starting cone a yard or two off one side wall for each group.
  • Set a second cone just past the middle of the court, heading toward the opposite wall.
  • Each group lines up at its starting cone, first player with the ball.

How It Works

  1. The first player dribbles across the court toward the far wall.
  2. At the far cone, the player strikes a pass off the wall.
  3. They collect their own rebound with a clean first touch.
  4. They dribble back toward their group's starting cone.
  5. About 5 yards from the line, they pass to the next player, who repeats the circuit.

Coaching Points

  • Keep the dribble close and controlled; indoor surfaces make the ball run fast.
  • Strike the wall pass with purpose so the rebound comes back at a playable angle.
  • Take the first touch out of the feet and into the direction of travel.
  • The handover pass should be weighted so the next player can start immediately.

Variations

  • Require a set move (scissors, stepover) at the midway cone before the wall pass.
  • Make it a relay race between groups to add competitive pace.
  • Limit the rebound to one touch: control and pass with the same foot surface.
