Developing 1-2 Combinations
Focus of the Drill
This drill focuses on helping players to improve their 1-2 combination play by adding a unique pattern and encouraging good ball movement.
Setup
To set up this drill, first make a grid about 20 X 25 yards. Place players on three of the corner cones and a small line on the 4th cone. The ball will be put at the beginning of the line. Just 1 ball will be used in the start, but the number of balls can be varied according to the ages and skill levels of the players.
How To Play
Following guidelines need to be observed:
The first player plays the ball to the second and follows after the pass.
The second player returns the ball to the first player and then sprints around the cone to the third player.
The first player then passes the ball to the third player who passes it along to player 2 and then sprints around the cone.
The second player passes the ball to the fourth player who returns it to player 3 and so forth.
